FIRST MEMORANDUM

on Statistical Studies conducted with

a view to establishing a Statistical

Office in Hong Kong

Official Statistics may perhaps be divided into five main

heads: Demographic, Economic, Social, Governmental and

Departmental. These heads are not mutually exclusive but the

subdivisions which tend to fall most naturally under each

head are shewn in the following list,with the principal

sources of information shewn opposite to each item.
